What’s on in Kentucky

Kentucky is so much more than the Derby at the hallowed Churchill Downs, with races for man and beast at classy Keeneland racetrack or man and machine at Kentucky’s brand new Nascar race date. There’s steamboats and balloon races around the state too, not to mention the premier equestrian event, the Rolex in Lexington.

There’s rich music festivals to visit as well, be it the largest Beatles tribute festival or the various annual bluegrass events which dot the state; this year it’s going to be extra special, the 100th anniversary of bluegrass founder Bill Monroe!!!

Other festivals include the famous chicken festival in September, near the home of Colonel Sanders or the unique madcap antics of the bourbon trail, be it the all-year round urban crawl in Louisville or the scenic drive around the distilleries in the lush green countryside.

For the more offbeat encounter, there’s the scary fun of Halloween in Louisville, with many a haunted mansion and spooky street to visit in the fabled Victorian district to visit.
